War 2 Day 1 Box Office Prediction: A Blockbuster Battle Awaits
As War 2 is just 4 days away from its release on 14th August 2025, the hype for this Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe sequel is getting bigger and bigger. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani, this one is going to make a huge impact at the Indian and global box office. War (2019) had set the bar high with a ₹53.35 cr opening day, so expectations are sky high for War 2 to open big and possibly break records. Industry experts and early trends suggest a massive opening but Coolie with Rajinikanth might be a competition.
The buzz around the film is huge, thanks to Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal and Jr. NTR whose Telugu fanbase has gone crazy after RRR and Devara. BookMyShow has 357,000+ users waiting for War 2, more than Coolie’s 198,000. Analysts are predicting a day 1 collection of ₹100-125 crore worldwide, ₹50-65 crore in Hindi, ₹45-50 crore in Telugu and ₹20 crore from other versions including Kannada. This could be the biggest Bollywood opener of 2025, may even surpass Jawan’s ₹75 crore and challenge Pushpa 2’s ₹72 crore Hindi opening.

Pre-Independence Day release will work in its favour, especially in Hindi belt where it has minimal competition. Despite clashing with Coolie, War 2’s pan-India appeal with Bollywood + South Indian star power will work in urban and mass markets. Trailer got mixed reactions for the CGI but hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm, Taran Adarsh is confident of ₹100+ crore opening citing Spy Universe’s brand value and Yash Raj Films’ success with Saiyaara.
Worldwide War 2 is expected to collect ₹150-175 crore on day 1, ₹50 crore from overseas, with Telugu states contributing big time with advance bookings. Distributors have offered up to ₹100 crore for theatrical rights in Telugu states. The film’s ₹400 crore budget is one of the highest for an Indian film. Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR are getting ₹50 crore and ₹70 crore respectively. With positive reviews and word of mouth, the film can collect ₹700-1,000 crore lifetime and can even surpass 2025’s current Bollywood leader Chaava (₹783 crore).
But challenges remain. The US pre-sales as of August 6, 2025 are $230,000 and behind Coolie’s $1 million. Hindi promotions over Telugu audiences and high ticket prices in Telugu markets (up to $30) might limit its reach. If War 2 has a good script and high octane action it can overcome these hurdles and become a landmark opener and possibly the first Bollywood film to hit ₹100 crore net on day 1 in India.
